Yesterday, SLR contributor Allen Mendenhall posted a review of the new nonfiction release by John Thompson and Ronald Gauthier, Killing Time: An 18-Year Odyssey from Death Row to Freedom (Skyhorse Publishing, 2010). The book brings to light one man’s story of a wrongful conviction, and – after tremendous legal effort – his exoneration.
But John Thompson is not the only American who has lost years of his life due to our criminal justice system. Today, more than 400 exonerated men and women have become victims of our judicial system. On average, each has served more than 10 years in prison before being released.
Can you imagine anything worse than being convicted of murdering your spouse? Taken away from your children? Placed on Death Row? Listen as Douglas Dilosa shares his emotional experience.
