The novel tells the story of Margaret Wilson Hodges Hood, the last woman to live in the Tallahassee mansion known as Goodwood—and the first woman to run for the Florida Senate. Her first husband, William Hodges, became President of the Florida Senate. Her second husband, Tom Hood, was an army air corpsman, who taught soldiers camouflage methods during WWII here in Tallahassee. He was raised in my hometown, Clarksburg, WV.
