Marley Brown

Marley Brown has loved literature since she was a young child, and has found outlets in both reading and writing. From a small, rural Georgian town near Savannah, Marley is deeply familiar with Southern culture and enjoys the outdoors and nature, supporting and volunteering with conservationist organizations like Ogeechee Riverkeeper and Adopt-a-Stream. Her favorite authors include Charlotte Brontë and Leigh Bardugo, and she is always prepared to take book recommendations.

  1. Marley,
I’m a retired orthopaedic surgeon, and I would like to introduce you to my latest literary historical fiction, set in 1927 Arkansas, during the collapse of the Southern apple industry. Arkansas Black won the 2023 William Faulkner Literary Award and received a rating of 9.25 out of 10 in the BookLife Prize competition. If you enjoy Southern family sagas with gritty characters and descriptive prose, you’ll love Arkansas Black.
