Brandy Renee McCann, PhD, is an interdisciplinary writer and scholar whose work focuses on southern Appalachian people and stories. In addition to a regular craft column at Reckon Review, her creative work has appeared in the Anthology of Appalachian Writers: Barbara Kingsolver edition; Still: The Journal; Pine Mountain Sand & Gravel; and The Dead Mule, among others. Brandy works at Virginia Tech as a research scientist for the Institute for Society, Culture, and Environment where she manages a NIH-funded grant on dementia caregiving. In her spare time she enjoys wildcrafting food and medicines from the weeds in her yard.
