Born in Louisiana and raised in Tennessee, Michael Lee West knows the language of the south.

She is the author of  Mermaids in the Basement,  She Flew the Coop, American Pie, and Consuming Passions and her latest novel Mad Girls in Love is the sequel to her popular novel Crazy Ladies.

A registered nurse, West lives with her husband, two sons, a Scottish terrier, and five alleycats in a renovated funeral home outside of Nashville, Tennessee.
